New Books Display
|
The
Library’s New Books Display has moved. It is
now located adjacent to the elevator on the 1st
floor. We have also implemented a new,
streamlined system for retrieving your new item
requests. When your selection form is returned
to you, an added call number indicates that the
item you requested is now available at the LRC
and is shelved in the circulating stacks. If the
form includes a red “SHELVED
IN NEW BOOKS” stamp, it will be placed on
the New Books Display for a minimum of seven
days before being shelved in the stacks.
If you’d
like to view the items on the New Books Display
visit
http://library.georgetowncollege.edu/newbooks.html
We hope
that the more prominent location of the New
Books Display will showcase the great new
materials that the library receives every day
and that the new notification system will make
it easier for you to locate the materials you
request.
If you'd like to request a new purchase for the
library please visit the
forms page.

Ernie Heavin Holds Book Signing at
LRC.
 |
|
Ernie signing a copy of his new book. |
Ernie Heavin,
author of, Living by the Power of Faith: an Unique
Study from the Book of Romans, recently held a book
signing at the Georgetown College library on October 16th.
Heavin, who has been in ministry for 24 years, is pastor
of the Oasis Church of Christ and a volunteer chaplain
for Georgetown College and Chik-Fil-A (Hamburg branch,
Lexington, KY). In addition to his long list of
ministry work, Heavin is one of Georgetown College’s
very own employees (periodicals manager in the LRC).
In his book,
Living by the Power of Faith, Heavin uses clear
language to examine the Good News of Jesus Christ as
presented by Paul's letter to the Romans, over the
alternatives that lead people away from it. Heavin
posits that many of us worry whether we are "working
hard enough" in our Christian walk, or whether we are
studying and praying enough, of if our church has
perfect doctrine. This book outlines how the Gospel
presented in Romans puts all of those questions to rest,
declaring that Jesus alone is sufficient for our needs.
You may contact Heavin at
Ernie_Heavin@georgetowncollege.edu for purchasing
information or to schedule a book signing.
