Ernie Heavin Holds Book Signing at LRC.

Ernie signing a copy of his new book.

Ernie Heavin, author of, Living by the Power of Faith: an Unique Study from the Book of Romans, recently held a book signing at the Georgetown College library on October 16th.  Heavin, who has been in ministry for 24 years, is pastor of the Oasis Church of Christ and a volunteer chaplain for Georgetown College and Chik-Fil-A (Hamburg branch, Lexington, KY).  In addition to his long list of ministry work, Heavin is one of Georgetown College’s very own employees (periodicals manager in the LRC).

In his book, Living by the Power of Faith, Heavin uses clear language to examine the Good News of Jesus Christ as presented by Paul's letter to the Romans, over the alternatives that lead people away from it.  Heavin posits that many of us worry whether we are "working hard enough" in our Christian walk, or whether we are studying and praying enough, of if our church has perfect doctrine.  This book outlines how the Gospel presented in Romans puts all of those questions to rest, declaring that Jesus alone is sufficient for our needs.

You may contact Heavin at Ernie_Heavin@georgetowncollege.edu for purchasing information or to schedule a book signing.

Don’t do Wiki, do Credo!  Search Reference E-books for your Assignments…

The library recently purchased the Credo Database which contains over three million entries from hundreds of well-regarded titles from some of world's best reference publishers. Credo’s collection is intelligently integrated with millions of cross-references and contains dictionaries, bilingual dictionaries, thesauri, encyclopedias, quotations and atlases, plus a wide range of subject-specific titles covering everything from art to accountancy, science to Shakespeare and law to literature. It also includes the Bridgeman Art Library Archive image database.

For more information or for a demo of this new database, please stop by the Research Help Desk.

Used Book Sale in the Library!

The Ensor Learning Resource Center receives book donations on a regular basis. Many of these offerings are helpful contributions to our collection, but some titles are duplicates or are otherwise unsuited to the research needs of our campus community. Such books are being offered for sale in the T3 Center in the LRC. The carts are clearly labeled on the north side of the room.

Hardcover books are $1, and paperbacks or other materials are $0.50. Payment can be made at the Circulation Desk.
